About The UK Lotto Draw

The National Lottery was launched in 1994 by then PM John Major as a way to help raise money for good causes in the UK, and the licence has always been granted to Camelot Group who operate it. The main draw was originally called the National Lottery until 2002 when it was renamed Lotto, with the other major changes since incarnation being in 2013 when the price of a Lotto ticket doubled from £1 to £2, and in 2015 when the number of balls to select from increased from 49 to 59, which made the odds of winning much longer. Today the odds of have the winning numbers to win the Lotto jackpot are a rather hefty 45,057,474 to 1.
